The release process transfers the manufacturing order from planning to production. From this point onwards components can be withdrawn and confirmations created. An ATP check is often linked to the release in order to ensure the availability of the components.
You can only release manufacturing orders in SAP R/3, not in SAP APO. The release can be carried out for the entire manufacturing order or for individual operations or phases of the manufacturing order.
