Process documentationException Processing

You use this process to make all F&R exceptions available to users (for example, planners and system administrators) who have been involved in different business areas of the F&R business process. Using this process, you can do the following to F&R exceptions:

  • Display

  • Analyze

  • Hide temporarily or permanently

  • Forward

  • Flag as completed (deletion indicator)

Users from all the different business areas process exceptions using a central tool - the Exception Workbench. The system makes business area objects and their corresponding exceptions available in the Exception Workbench. You can subscribe to exceptions from different business areas, for example, in the Exception Workbench. For more details, see Exception Workbench.

Process

  1. You select the exceptions related to your task.

To allow you to access specific exceptions, SAP F&R provides selection criteria that enable you to read and display exceptions.

The following selection criteria exist for selecting exceptions:

    • Business context objects

    • Priority

    • Message type

    • Message number combined with message class

Note that the selection only includes the original message number and class, even if you have created customer-specific message texts.

    • Processing mode

    • Creation date and time

    • User who initiated the process that caused the exception

    • Expiration date

    • Status

  2. The system displays the selected exceptions.

The system can display all the existing exceptions in the Exception Workbench. The overall profile you select for the Alert Monitor determines which exceptions the system actually displays in the Exception Workbench.

The overall profile contains the following information:

    • The selection of a business area

    • The selection of a detail selection

  3. You set follow-up flags.

If you sent the follow-up flag for the exception, you can temporarily hide an exception and all other exceptions with the same meaning in the Exception Workbench. Enter a resubmission date. When you make a new selection, the system hides the relevant exception. The exception does not appear again until the resubmission date is reached or if you choose the Show Alert Monitor symbol.

  4. You set the status Acknowledged for exceptions that are not relevant.

If you work in change mode in the Exception Workbench, you can manually set the status of an exception to Processed. This flag affects not just one specific exception, but rather every other exception with the same exception text that the system created within a business process.

    Example Example

If the system has created the exception Master Data not Maintained for Location 4711 twice during the last replenishment run, both exceptions have the same status.

    End of the example.
  5. To eliminate a problem you go to the relevant application.

If there is a transaction or module for eliminating the problem, you can go directly to it from the Exception Workbench.

    Example Example

If the system was not able to release an order proposal automatically, it defines a connection between the exception and the Replenishment Workbench.

    End of the example.
  6. You send a message to a colleague.

An exception might be relevant for users working in other areas or outside SAP F&R. If you want to notify another person of an exception, you can do the following:

    • Send a message by e-mail or SMS.

    • Place the exception directly in another user's display list.

To do so, set the symbol with the quick info Forward Alerts.
