Functions for Production Campaign Planning You can plan campaigns in SAP APO as follows:
Automatically

The system tries to find an optimum number and sequence of orders in a campaign, as well as the sequence between the campaigns, while taking setup and storage costs into account.
For more information, see Campaign Optimization .
By processing the campaign heuristics in sequence
For more information, see Heuristics for Campaign Planning .

You can use drag and drop to move the campaign bars on the time axis. The planning functions of the Detailed Scheduling planning board (DS planning board) help you to schedule campaigns. You can also execute automatic campaign optimization.
For more information, see Campaign Functions in the DS Planning Board .
Campaign transaction This transaction does not use graphics, but it provides an overview of the campaigns, orders, and dates in a table.
For more information, see Campaign Functions in the Campaign Transaction .

You should plan campaigns such that manual and automatic planning complement each other. You can start with campaign optimization. If the requirement situation changes, you can correct the planning manually. You can later execute campaign optimization again. You can alternate these steps multiple times to get a satisfactory result.
