 Sorting of Activities

Use

Before the system can reschedule the activities, the heuristic arranges them in a certain sequence. The following sort criteria are used:

  1. Requirement date

  2. ATP category (in accordance with special sorting)

  3. Confirmed/unconfirmed sales order

  4. Order priority

  5. Setup sequence

Integration

The following sort criteria are also bequeathed to the subordinate BOM levels with the aid of fixed pegging:

  • ATP category

  • Confirmed/unconfirmed

  • Order priority

This independent requirement information is also passed on to the subordinate orders of the pegging structure via the pegging. If an order is linked to more than one superordinate order via pegging, it inherits the information with the highest priority in each case. This is shown in the following graphic:

The graphic shows how the information relating to independent requirement E (sales order) is passed on to the order A. First the ATP category is considered. Because the category BM (sales order) is rated as more important than category FA according to the sort profile, the system passes on the category BM to the orders B and A. After this, the information confirmed or not confirmed is passed on. Since order A is linked to orders B and C via pegging, order A inherits the information confirmed by order C, because a confirmed sales order has a higher priority than an unconfirmed one. Lastly, the order priority is passed on.

Prerequisites

  • You have specified the ranking order for the individual sort criteria in Customizing for PP/DS under Start of the navigation path Heuristics Next navigation step Define Sort Profile End of the navigation path .

  • You have checked the ranking order of the ATP categories in Special Sorting in Customizing.

Example

In the following example, sorting according to the sort criterion requirement date is shown. In this example, further sorting with the sort criterion ATP category is superfluous, because the system can create a unique sequence based on the requirement date.

The system is to sort the following four operations/orders:

Order no.

Requirement date/time

Independent requirement information

P1

20.04.2005

Sales order (BM)

P2

20.04.2005

Planned independent requirement (FC)

P3

27.04.2005

Sales order (BM)

P4

26.04.2005

Planned independent requirement (FC)

P5

21.04.2005

Planned independent requirement (FC)

The system determines the following sequence for scheduling based on the requirement date/time:

  1. P2

  2. P3

  3. P4

  4. P1
