Function documentationCreate Fixing/Planning Intervals

With the heuristic SAP_DS_03, based on the algorithm /SAPAPO/HEUR_REL_FIXINT_MAINT, you can create new fixing and planning intervals or replace and delete existing ones.

The heuristic enables you to define fixing and planning intervals relative to the current date.

In addition, you can use the heuristic to deactivate sequence-dependent setup activities. The deactivation of the sequence-dependent setup activities can only be carried out in connection with the creation of fixing intervals. A fixing interval is used above all to fix operations or orders that lie near the today line for planning purposes. In the fixing interval, the capacity of the resource is blocked for other operations or orders and this period is therefore protected from undesired rescheduling or new scheduling. By deactivating the sequence-dependent setup times, you ensure that the system carries on scheduling with the previously determined setup time and also carries out the confirmations. Because the system now no longer has to continually redetermine the setup time due to short-term sequence changes, the planning situation remains stable.

With the heuristic, you can also have a fixing interval deleted again. Afterwards, the deactivated sequence-dependent setup activities are reactivated.

Prerequisites

You have made the heuristic settings:

Interval data

In this area, you specify the period that the interval is to cover in the Start and End Date Type fields. You can enter days, weeks, or months. In addition, you specify the start and end of the period relative to the current date. You may be able to enter an exact start time and end time.

Example

If you want to create a planning interval covering the next two weeks as of the current week, enter weeks as the period. As start date, enter 1. As end date, enter 2. The current week then lies outside the interval.

If you want to create a fixing interval fort he deactivation of sequence-dependent setup activities, leave the start open and enter only the end of the interval. The fixing interval then covers a period from the start of the time stream of the resource to the end of the selected period.

Interval type

In this area, you specify whether you want to create or delete a fixing or planning interval.

Function

In this area, you specify the function the system is to perform.

  • Replace existing intervals

  • Create/add new interval

  • Delete all existing intervals

Options in fixing interval

When creating a fixing interval, you can make the following additional settings:

  • Deactivate sequence-dependent setup activities

By setting this indicator, you cause all sequence-dependent setup activities that lie in the selected fixing interval to be deactivated. A prerequisite for this is that you have not entered a start date for the fixing interval to be created.

  • Fix operations

By setting this indicator, you can specify that all operations in the selected fixing interval are fixed. As a result, the operations are protected not only from rescheduling in detailed scheduling but also from changes in an MRP run.

Activities

If deactivated setup activities lie outside the fixing horizon due to quantity changes in the production order (change with proportional adjustment), you must reactivate these setup activities. The heuristic SAP_DS_04 is available for this purpose.
