 Fixed Lot Size

Use

You choose a fixed lot size if production- or process-related constraints such as palette size or tank contents require this. In this lot-sizing procedure the procurement quantity of a receipt must equal the fixed lot size. To cover an uncovered requirement the system must, depending on the requirements quantity, create at least one receipt with a procurement quantity equal to the fixed lot size. The desired availability date of the receipts is the requirements date.

You can not combine this lot-sizing procedure with minimum lot size , maximum lot size or with rounding .

Note Note

Note that the fixed lot size is interpreted differently in SAP R/3; the difference is apparent for products produced in-house for which assembly scrap is produced: In SAP R/3 it is the yield of a receipt and not the procurement quantity that equals the fixed lot size. Therefore with assembly scrap, the procurement quantity of a receipt is larger than the fixed lot size.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

In order that the system uses this lot-sizing procedure, you must have specified the lot-sizing procedure Fixed Lot Size and a value for the fixed lot size at the place relevant to the application (for example, location product master or heuristic settings).

Example

You have defined a fixed lot size of 50 pieces for a product produced in-house. The system can therefore only create receipts with a procurement quantity of 50 pieces each to cover requirements. To cover an uncovered requirement of 100 pieces, 125 pieces must be produced altogether, taking into account an assembly scrap of 20%. The system therefore creates three receipts each with 50 pieces, where the yield of each receipt is 40 pieces.
