When co-products are manufactured, several products result from one production process. It may therefore make sense to carry out joint planning for these products that are dependent on each other during manufacture. To do this, you use planning packages in the SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO), in which you can group products for joint planning.

The report /SAPAPO/HEU_PACKAGE_CO_PROD creates planning packages automatically for output products from joint processes and assigns the same product heuristic selected to all output products.

  • Identification of products from manufacture of co-products

    To identify output products that result from joint processes, the report explodes all PPMs/PDSs from a planning version. The report checks for each PPM/PDS if it has several output products, that is, if co-products are to be manufactured. If a PPM/PDS has several output products, the report generates a planning package for these products. If one of these output products is also the output product of another PPM/PDS, the report also includes the output products of this PPM/PDS in the planning package.

  • Package names

    The report generates the package name automatically, using the number range object for planning packages (/SAPAPO/PK).

    Example Example

    15:03 4 1 is planning package 1 and was generated on Thursday at 15:03.

    Using batch input, the report enters the package name on the PP/DS tab page in the location product master for the output products that belong to the package.

  • Log

    A log provides you with information on whether the report was executed successfully, and if not, which errors occurred.

Activities

After you have started the report /SAPAPO/HEU_PACKAGE_CO_PROD, enter the product heuristic that the report should assign to products from joint processes.

Example

You start the report /SAPAPO/HEU_PACKAGE_CO_PROD. You want the system to assign your planning heuristic for manufacture of co-product Z_PP_KUPPEL to all output products that result from manufacture of co-products, and create appropriate planning packages.

  • If A and B are the output products of one PPM/PDS and B and C are the output products of another PPM/PDS, the system groups the products A, B, and C in a planning package. (This grouping is caused by product B, which is an output product in both PPMs/PDSs.) The system groups all co-products, generates package name from the number range object, creates the planning packages, and updates the location product master data for products A, B, and C.

  • The system groups the products D, E, G, and H in a second planning package and updates the location product master data for these products.

The system assigns the product heuristic Z_PP_KUPPEL to both planning packages in the location product master data.
