Analysis

You find information why the processes went down in the JControltrace:

  • On Windows, open the SAP MMC and go to the Process List of the Java instance. Select jcontrol.exe and from the context menu choose Developer Trace. Here you can see the reason for the problem:

  • On UNIX, you can find the JControl trace at <saploc>/<SID>/<instance_name>/work/dev_jcontrol.

To find more information about the license, you can check the default trace of the dispatcher at <saploc>/<SID>/<instance_name>/j2ee/cluster/dispatcher/log/defaultTrace.trc:

Solution

  • If the analysis shows that the reason is a licensing problem (for example, the installed license is not valid or the license check has failed), install a new license from SAP Service Marketplace - quick link /licensekey. In this case the interval for the J2EE Engine shutdown is exactly thirty minutes, that is, the processes go down every thirty minutes.
  • If the installed license is valid, this means that the J2EE Engine is stopped manually. In this case, you need to restart the J2EE Engine.
