 Executing the Production Planning Run in the Background

Use

If you want to plan a large number of objects, you execute the production planning run as a background job. You can start the job immediately or specify that the system should execute the job at a later time so that the system performance is not reduced (for example, during the night). You control the production planning run using variants that contain all the settings for the production planning run.

Procedure

  1. In the SAP Easy Access menu, choose Start of the navigation path Production Planning Next navigation step Automated Production Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Production Planning Run in Background End of the navigation path .

The Background Planning: Variants screen appears. The variants already created are displayed.

  1. Select the variant with which you want to execute the production planning run.

If necessary, you can change the variants or create a new variant.

  1. If you want to start the background job immediately, choose start immediately .

  2. If you want the background job to begin at a later time, choose schedule and define the starting time or, in case of a periodic execution, the starting times.

Result

The system executes the production planning run either immediately or at the specified time. To check the status of the job, choose Start of the navigation path System Next navigation step Own jobs End of the navigation path .
