You use this function to automatically optimize the parameters for the forecasting techniques regression
and or smoothing
. The forecast calculation uses the optimized parameters. Parameter optimization can take place as follows:
For the automatic selection between regression and smoothing
For all parameters of the regression forecasting technique
For the seasonal consideration for forecast the smoothing forecasting technique
You define optimization you want to use in Customizing.
Recommendation
This function takes a lot of time. Therefore, you should only schedule parameter optimization in a critical time window (creation of order proposals) if sufficient time is available.
You can activate and deactivate parameter optimization in the process control profile for FRP. If the frequency of parameter optimization is dependent on the forecast calculation days, you can configure a corresponding frequency type that is either location-specific or location-product specific. For more information, see Forecast-Relevant Profiles.
The FRP Dispatcher must be activated in order to enable use of the automatic parameter optimization within the FRP run.
You can define how often you want the system to execute parameter optimization for each frequency type (daily, weekly, or dependent on forecast calculation) in the frequency profile for parameter optimization. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Forecasting and Replenishment
under .
You can perform parameter optimization in the following ways:
With the FRP Dispatcher
You can use the FRP Dispatcher to perform parameter optimization within the critical and non-critical time period. To do so, you must add the SAFRUN_CALIB
task to the Dispatcher profile you use. You must add this task in the MD_AND_TECH_SYNCH
sequence (non-critical time period) or in the AUTO_REPL_AND_OPRM
sequence (critical time period). Alternatively, you can create a separate sequence for the above task and add it to the appropriate place in the Dispatcher profile.
With report /FRE/UI_FRP_SAFRUN_CALIBRATION
If you want to perform parameter optimization outside the Dispatcher-controlled FRP run (neither in the critical nor in the non-critical time period), schedule this report as a background job whenever appropriate. For more information, see Background Processing of the FRP Run.
