Use

The product heuristic is the heuristic that you have entered in the location product master on the PP/DS tab page. You can call up the product heuristic in the product view to plan the following products:

These are products for which you have set a manual planning procedure, for example standard planning procedure 1 or 2. For manually planned products, the system does not automatically create receipts. You can create these receipts manually or by using the product heuristic.

These are products for which you have set an automatic planning procedure such as standard planning procedure 3. For products that are planned using the standard planning procedure 3, the system immediately creates new receipts for a product in order to cover a changed or new dependent or stock transport requirement. To do this, you can only use exact or fixed lot sizes. If you want to implement different lot size procedures, for example periodic lot size procedures, you also plan with the product heuristic.

Prerequisites

If you want to plan with the product heuristic in the product view, you must enter the required heuristic in the location product master. If you do not specify a product heuristic in the location product master, the system uses the heuristic that you have entered in the planning procedure.
