The Restriction Profile assigns vendor restrictions to a vendor subrange or to all location products purchased at this vendor. You can make settings for the main minimum restriction, an additional restriction, and for the transport load optimization in this profile. For the minimum and additional restriction, you can choose whether the system should use the gross or net weight for the restriction check.
These three checks are autonomous. If one restriction is not maintained, the system checks the settings for the other restriction or for the transport load optimization.
The Restriction Profile is assigned in the transportation lanes for subranges and is checked during automatic replenishment. The minimum restriction and the additional restriction can also be checked during manual replenishment. However, the requirement quantity optimization for the fulfillment of vendor restrictions can only take place in automatic replenishment.
To assign the Restriction Profile to the transportation lane for subranges, choose, on the SAP Easy Access
screen, .
The three optimizations are applied in the following sequence:
Minimum restriction
This is the main restriction check. Here, you can define a minimum quantity, weight, price, or volume.
Additional restriction
Here, you can define either a minimum restriction or a restriction for multiple or discount scales. This restriction also refers to a quantity, weight, price, or volume. Alternatively, you can decide that no further restrictions should take place.
Note
You can perform a check of the additional restriction even if you have not defined a main restriction. For more information, see Restriction Check During Automatic Replenishment Planning
Transport load optimization
Here, you can use the parameters to maintain the master data for the transport load optimization (TLO). You can define, for example, the transportation unit's specific physical characteristics, such as the maximum loading weight, and you can define the minimum fill thresholds that must be met by the last consolidated transportation unit. During transport load optimization, the system considers the settings you have made when determining the assignment of order quantities per location product to one or more transportation unit. For more information, seeTransport Load Optimization.
Each step can override the result from the previous optimization step by adding additional quantities. Additional quantities cannot violate the minimum restriction, so the minimum restriction can be combined with the additional restriction or with the transport load optimization. However,
it does not make sense to make settings for the Multiple
or Discount Scales
additional restriction as well as for the transport load optimization, since the transport load optimization could invalidate the result of the additional restriction.
Note
To define an absolute discount for the discount scales in the additional restriction, and to use transport load optimization, you must activate the business function SCM-FRE, Replenishment and Optimization
in F&R (SCM_FRE_OPTIM
).
To maintain Restriction Profiles, go to the SAP Easy Access screen and choose .
Example 1
You can use two minimum quantity restrictions by defining a main minimum restriction for a fixed unit of measure, for example, box, and an additional restriction of type Minimum
for the price.
Example 2
You can choose not to define a restriction check for minimum order quantities at all, but use the restriction category Multiple
instead.
Example 3
For the first restriction check, you can define a minimum quantity and in addition use discount scales.
