Classification You can classify iPPE nodes and variants in classes of class type 300 for variant configuration. In addition, you can classify iPPE nodes in classes of class type 053 and iPPE variants in classes of class type 056. This classification means you can assign additional characteristics, which are independent from the variant configuration, to the nodes and variants.
In the tabular display, the classification determines whether you can assign values to the characteristics for variants (classes of class type 056) or for nodes (classes of class type 053).
When you create new nodes and variants in the tabular display, they are not classified, irrespective of which class is active at the time. They are not classified until you assign characteristic values.
When you load existing nodes and variants that are not classified into the tabular display, they are not classified until you assign characteristic values.
You create classes with class type 053 (PVS node) and 056 (iPPE node) in the following locations:
In SAP ERP under
In SAP SCM under .
You specify the classes available for selection under
Classification
by choosing
and maintaining the relevant classes.
The relevant classes are displayed for selection under
Classification
in the tabular display, provided you have the necessary authorization.
The classification contains the characteristics from the class with the same name. When you have selected a classification in the tabular display, the system displays the characteristics from the respective class, so that you can assign values for the individual objects.
When you load a node or a variant into the tabular maintenance, and the node or variant has not been assigned a class and a class is active that allows you to assign characteristic values, then the node or variant will be assigned the selected class.
To select a class in the tabular display, select the desired class under
Classification: (None)
.
The selected class is activated.
Caution
There are a maximum of 128 characters available for assigning characteristic values for multiple-value characteristics.
In the tabular display, the characteristic values of multiple-value characteristics are separated by a semi-colon.
If you have deleted classes in the class system, the deletions are not automatically transferred to the tabular display. You must remove the class manually.
