Depending on the particular object type, the metadata repository supports the graphic display of object-specific information. The data flow for a metadata object and its structure pertain particularly to this.
...
1. First, determine the graphics format you want to use. To do this, choose Extras in the metadata repository. Graphics → VML (Vector Markup Language, IE5) or SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics).
The display in VML format is only possible as of MS Internet Explorer 5. Graphics in SVG format can be displayed using a browser plug-in, for example with MS Internet Explorer 4 and Netscape Navigator 4.
2. Navigate to the object information for those metadata objects that you want to see in a graphic display.
3. If the system supports the graphic display for this object, then links appear in the object information for the graphics that are able to be selected under Graphic Display:
Network Display of Data Flow: with roles, workbooks, InfoSources, and queries
Schematic Display as Star Schema: with InfoCubes
Schematic Display, Compact: with InfoCubes
Query Preview: with queries
If you want to change the size of a graphic, choose Change Graphics Size. You get to the Change Graphics Size dialog box. The standard value is 1.00. If necessary, change this value.
By using Print, you can print the graphic displayed.
Furthermore, you can use the context menu of the installed browser in the graphics area.
4. You can navigate by using links from the graphic to the object information for the displayed objects.
