Function documentation Refresh / Pause Automatic Refresh  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

With this toggle function, you control the refresh status to activate or deactivate the request for current valid data from the server.

Features

When refresh is active, the current data is requested from the BI system whenever you insert a query into a workbook or change the navigational state of the query. This enables you to synchronize the interface of your query with the data on the server. When you activate Pause Automatic Refresh, you can navigate in the query without having to wait for it to be updated with the current data.

The Pause Automatic Refresh state is recommended for performance reasons, for example, if you intend to make several changes to the query properties and several navigational steps in succession without displaying the corresponding data immediately.

When you open a query or workbook, you should ensure that automatic refreshing is activated so you can continue navigating with the current state of the data.

Activities

To activate refreshing and therefore request the current valid data from the server, choose Refresh in the analysis toolbar, or BEx Analyzer Refresh in the menu. The function name changes to Pause Automatic Refresh.

If you have already activated the refresh function and you want to pause automatic refreshing for the current valid data, choose Pause Automatic Refresh in the analysis toolbar, or BEx Analyzer Pause Automatic Refresh in the menu. The function name changes to Refresh.

Note

A query can only be refreshed if there is a connection between BEx Analyzer and the BI system. If you are not connected to a system, you are first prompted to log on using the SAP Logon dialog box.

When a query is refreshed, the data, format, rows, and column widths of the analysis grid (in which the results are displayed) are automatically adjusted for the updated query data.  You can adjust this display using the properties for the analysis grid (see Analysis Grid).
