Use

You can search for BI objects using the search function, which is a sub-function of the open dialog box. The following options are available for searching:

     Search in the name of the BI object

     Advanced search in the attributes of the BI object

The advanced search in attributes of the BI object is based on the BI metadata search. For more information, see BI Metadata Search.

Integration

The search function is part of the open dialog box and can be called by choosing This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Search) in the toolbar in the left side of the dialog box.

Activities

Select the search method you want to use from the dropdown box:

     Search in Names

...

                            a.      Enter the search text in the upper part area of the dialog box.

                            b.      Specify whether you want to search in the descriptions and/or the technical names of the BI objects.

                            c.      Choose Find.

     Enhanced Search in Attributes

...

                            a.      When you use the advanced search according to attributes, you can enter up to three search criteria for the attributes of the BI object. The following search criteria are available for all BI objects:

      Last Changed On

      Description

      Last Changed By

      Technical Name

You can enter your search text beside the selected search criterion. If you select Last Changed On as search criterion, you can specify a "from" and "to" time period. You can choose the calendar icon to select the time period from the calendar provided.

Additional search criteria are available, depending on the BI object. For example:

      Query Used

      Web Template Used

      Web Item Used

If you search using Query Used, Web Template Used, or Web Item Used as search criteria, the search results list all BI objects that use the specified query, Web template, or Web item.

Example

You are using the BEx Web Application Designer and want to search for a specific Web template. You select Query Used as a search criterion and enter the name of the relevant query. The search results list all Web templates that use this specific query.

                            b.      Choose Find.

The results that match your search criteria are displayed in the lower area of the dialog box. You double-click one of the search results to open the corresponding BI object.
