Calling the BEx Broadcaster 

Use

You can call the BEx Broadcaster from various areas of the Business Explorer to distribute BI objects.

From a technical viewpoint, the BEx Broadcaster and broadcasting wizard represent the Broadcaster Web item, which is embedded in an otherwise empty Web application. This Web application (0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE) is entered as the Standard Web Template for Broadcasting in Customizing under SAP Reference IMG → SAP NetWeaver → Business Intelligence → Settings for Reporting and Analysis → BEx Web → Set Standard Web Templates. You can also specify another Web template as the Standard Web Template for Broadcasting, such as a template with your company logo.

Depending on how the BEx Broadcaster is called, the Web item is displayed either as a BEx Broadcaster or as a broadcasting wizard.

Features

You can call the BEx Broadcaster from the following areas of the Business Explorer:

BEx Query Designer

In the Query Designer toolbar, choose Query → Publish → BEx Broadcaster. The BEx Broadcaster opens. A list of the available broadcast settings for the query that you edited in the Query Designer is displayed.

BEx Report Designer

In the Report Designer toolbar, choose Report → Publish → BEx Broadcaster. The BEx Broadcaster opens. A list of the available broadcast settings for the report that you edited in the Report Designer is displayed.

BEx Web Application Designer

In the Web Application Designer toolbar , choose Web Template → Publish → BEx Broadcaster. The BEx Broadcaster opens. A list of the available broadcast settings for the Web application that you edited in the Web Application Designer is displayed.

BEx Analyzer

In the BEx Analyzer Analysis toolbar, choose Tools → Broadcaster. The BEx Broadcaster opens. A list of the available broadcast settings for the workbook that you edited in the BEx Analyzer is displayed.

The Tools → Broadcaster option is only visible when a workbook is open. If you only open a query in the BEx Analyzer, this broadcasting option is not available.

BEx Web Application

The Web application contains at least one Web item for which you can use a context menu. In the context menu, choose Broadcast and Export→ Broadcast E-Mail, Broadcast to Portal or Broadcast to Printer. The broadcasting wizard for distributing this Web application appears.

BEx Web Analyzer

In the BEx Web Analyzer, you can broadcast using the following options:

●      In the context menu of the table, choose Broadcast and Export → Broadcast E-Mail, Broadcast to Portal, or Broadcast to Printer.

●      To send by e-mail, choose Send.

The broadcasting wizard for distributing the query or query view that forms the basis of the BEx Web Analyzer appears.

Information Consumer Pattern

The Send pushbutton used to broadcast by e-mail can be included in the Information Consumer Pattern using the broadcast wizard. For more information, see Information Consumer Pattern.

Standard Web Template for Reports

In an executed report, you can call the broadcasting wizard using the Send pushbutton and broadcast the report by e-mail.
