Purpose

Before you can use information broadcasting, you have to make a number of system administration settings.

Process Flow

       1.      To enable users not only to distribute content from Business Intelligence immediately, but also to schedule distribution, assign authorizations for scheduling broadcast settings to the users. To do this, use authorization object S_RS_BCS. For more information, see Authorizations for Query Definition and Information Broadcasting in the Authorizations for the BEx Broadcaster section.

       2.      If the content from Business Intelligence is to be distributed by e-mail, make sure that the users have sufficient authorization for authorization object S_OC_SEND. If you are sending content from BI to an Internet address, you require communication type INT. If you are sending content from BI to an SAP Office recipient, you require communication type OFF. Communication type OFF is only used if no e-mail address has been entered in the user master data.

       3.      If the content from business intelligence is to be distributed by e-mail, enter E-Mail as the communication type and then the user e-mail addresses in the user master record for the user, under user maintenance (transaction SU01). For more information, see Creating and Editing User Master Records.

       4.      If no footers are to be inserted when the content from BI is distributed by e-mail, you can specify this in Customizing. You can also define the retention period in days that specifies how long the send requests are saved in the system after the e-mails are sent using broadcasting. For more information, see SAP Reference IMG SAP Customizing Implementation Guide SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence Settings for Reporting and Analysis Settings for Information Broadcasting Settings for Distributing E-Mails.

       5.      To facilitate the broadcasting of BI information to the portal, you must set up KM folders and collaboration rooms. These then appear in the input help in the BEx Broadcaster when you specify the target in the portal. For more information, see Setting Up Broadcasting to the Portal.

       6.      To enable processing of broadcast settings when data is changed, add the DATACHANGE process type to the process chains for data loading. For more information, see Including Event Data Changes in Process Chains.

       7.      To specify times for processing broadcast settings, schedule report RSRD_BROADCAST_FOR_TIMEPOINT. For more information, see Defining Times for Broadcast Scheduling.
