Defining Decision Trees A decision tree represents the sequence of decisions that demand combination has to make when it compares key figures to determine the combined key figure. You define a decision tree for a specific characteristic values combination of a specific planning area.
You can define any number of decision trees in the master data and you can assign them to different characteristic values combinations. During the subsequent demand combination run, the system compares the characteristic values combination and the planning area of the current planning book with the characteristic values combinations of the characteristics group and thus determines the appropriate decision tree.
You use conditions and activities to model a decision tree. You structure the decision tree with conditions by assigning the conditions to node numbers. The evaluation of a condition always leads to either the result TRUE or FALSE. For each TRUE and FALSE result of a condition, you specify a reference node number and in so doing determine the sequence of the evaluation. The decision tree ends with an activity that calculates the values for the combined key figure.
