Procedure documentation Creating Update Rules for InfoProviders  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Prerequisites

To maintain update rules, choose Modeling  InfoProvider  Context Menu for Your InfoProvider Additional Functions  Create Update Rules in the Data Warehousing Workbench.

Procedure

       1.      Select a data source. Choose between InfoSources, DataStore objects and InfoCubes. You can select a template for the update rule.

       2.      Choose Next Screen This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

A proposal for the update rule is generated from the InfoProvider. To display the technical name used to describe the fields, choose Technical Name This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

       3.      Select a field by double-clicking on it, or choose Type.

       4.      Define the update type for the displayed key figure or data field.

       5.      Select an update method.

       6.      Also select an update method for the characteristics and the time reference or for the key fields.

Note

Note: For non-cumulative InfoCubes, only the time reference characteristic and fiscal year variant can be maintained. All other time characteristics are automatically derived from the time-reference characteristic. Therefore, the time-reference characteristic must not be left blank.

       7.      Select the next key figure by double clicking on it, or by selecting Type, and repeat steps 4 to 6.

       8.      Choose Save if you want to save the rules without the system performing an update.

Choose Activate This graphic is explained in the accompanying text if you want the system to perform an update. An InfoProvider has to have an active update rule before it can contain data.
