Editing InfoObjects

Procedure

You are in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the modeling view of the InfoObject tree.

Select the InfoObject you want to maintain, and, using the context menu, choose Change. Alternatively, select the InfoObject you want to maintain, and choose the Maintain InfoObjects icon from the menu toolbar. You get to the InfoObject maintenance.

Change Options

It is usually possible to change the meaning and the text of an InfoObject. However, only limited changes can be made to certain properties if the InfoObject is used in InfoProviders.

With key figures, for example, you cannot change the key figure type, the data type, or the aggregation, as long as the key figure is still being used in an InfoProvider. Use the Check function to get hints on incompatible changes.

With characteristics, you can change compounding and data type, but only if no master data exists yet.

You cannot delete characteristics that are still in use in an InfoProvider, an InfoSource, compounding or as an attribute. It is a good idea, therefore, to execute a where-used list, whenever you want to delete a characteristic. If the characteristic is being used, you have to first delete the InfoProvider or the InfoObject from the InfoProvider. If errors occur, or applications exist, an error log appears automatically.
