Use

You use this function if you wish to copy plan or actual data from one characteristic value to another characteristic or number of characteristics (for example from one version to another version, or from one time frame to another time frame). You can take reference data from more than one year, for example, from 010.2003 to 004.2004, and also copy to more than one year. The number of periods in the reference and plan area must, however, be the same. The reference data periods must be selected as individual values (not as an area).

When updating the values you determine whether existing plan data is to be overwritten, or if the values are to be added to existing records on the database.

Features

BW-BPS offers the following copy functions:

Copy

Use this function if you want to copy plan or actual data from one characteristic value to another.

Copy to several target objects

This function is intended for particular cases where a template has to be copied several times. This is possible with the basic copy function but is made easier by this function.

Activities

Copy

Example

For example, you want to enter plan values for three customers in a package and have already entered the values for the first customer. You want to copy the values for the other two customers from the values for the customer that has already been planned using entry help.  To do this, select the customer number as the field to be changed. In the parameter groups, specify which new values are to be generated from which old values.

You can still proceed in the manner described above, even if the values that you want to copy are not in the package or level. After the planning function has run, the system checks whether the generated records are contained in the package.

If you do not want to copy all the key figures but just those that you have selected, select the fields Customer and Key Figure as fields for conditions.  In the parameter groups, define which key figures and customers are to be copied.

Copy to several target objects

When you define the parameter groups the template can only be used once. When you define the target you can specify intervals.
