 Creating a Part of Line Network

Use

Several products can be produced together in a line network. They pass partly through the same lines or groups of alternative lines. You must be able to view the situation on all the production lines to ensure correct model mix planning for all products that share a line network. This is why the line network has become a cross-product line network. The ‘part of line network’ has also been introduced to identify which parts of a line network a product can be produced on. You create a part of line network as an alternative in a line network. You also select the lines and buffers that are to be included in it.

Prerequisites

You have created all the line elements in the line structure and already maintained hierarchy relationships and sequence relationships .

Procedure

  1. In the iPPE Workbench Professional, load the line network that you wish to create parts of line networks for .

    The system displays the header data and the tab pages for the line network.

  2. Choose the Part of Line Networks tab page .

  3. In the PLN field, enter 1 and in the Description field enter a name for the part of line network. The description is user-defined. Continue entering the other parts of line networks.

  4. Choose Continue .

    The system displays a message stating that the parts of line networks will be created when you save.

  5. Then choose Save.

  6. Double-click a part of line network in the navigation area.

    The system displays a list of the lines and the buffers in the line network on the right-hand side of the screen.

  7. To select the line elements that you wish to assign to the part of line network, set the indicator in the Part of PLN field.

  8. Then choose Save.

  9. Repeat steps 6 to 8 until you have assigned the lines and buffers to all the parts of line networks.

Result

You have created one or more parts of line networks. Enter the line network and the part of line network in the production version. This provides a link to the product that is produced in the part of line network.
