You can use the Lead Column Settings function to summarize the plan data values displayed in the data columns in totals or subtotals. You can use this function both for setting up the layout (Change Layout) in the sense of default values and when displaying the plan data (Display Plan Data).
In addition, you can determine whether the characteristic values of the lead column which are contained in a hierarchy you have selected should be presented hierarchically (Totals as Hierarchy option) or in the form of a “flat” list.
Totals rows can only be displayed if you have selected the option Key Figures in the Data Columns in the basic settings of the layout (see Determining Basic Settings).
However, if key figures are displayed in the lead column no totals rows can be generated. In this case the function is not available.
For every characteristic that is contained in the lead column you can define whether a subtotal should be generated or not. In addition you can determine whether as the last row a total – aggregated over all values of all characteristics – should be disclosed.
If only one single characteristic is in the lead column, the additional total is not offered, as the sum of a single characteristic is already identical to the total.
The following graphics show various possibilities of using totals rows in the planning layout. For better distinction, the totals rows have a light blue background and are italicized. As an example we have a planning where a key figure from the first quarter of 2003 is taken on with a 10% markup in each case in the first quarter of 2004. In the key block, it is broken down according to the characteristics company and version.
The following graphic shows the use of all totals rows that are available for the data to be displayed: Sum for company 1000 (or 2000) over all versions, sum for version S0 or S1 or S2 over all companies and finally the total over all companies and versions:
The following graphic shows a combination of subtotals for the characteristic company and totals over all companies and versions:
The following graphic shows the exclusive use of a total without subtotals:
