Variant Maintenance Tips 

For various process types, variant maintenance in process chain maintenance is performed using the following table:

The following is valid when using this table:

·        If you select an object type in the Object Type field, for example, InfoCube, then the execution of this process refers to the object specified in the Object Name field.

·        If you select a process type in the Object Type field, for example Execute InfoPackage, then the execution of the process refers to the objects in the referenced process that was selected in the Object Name field.

In the following cases, if you choose the process type Execute InfoPackage as the object type, the process is also executed based on the request that was loaded with this InfoPackage:

¡        Activating ODS object data: The activation of data refers to the request in the selected InfoPackage.

¡        Compressing an InfoCube: If you do not make any additional settings, compression is performed up to the last request loaded with the selected InfoPackage.

¡        Rolling up filled aggregates: If you do not make any additional settings, roll up is performed up to the last request loaded with the selected InfoPackage.

You are also able to make process-specific settings in variant maintenance.
