You will find more information on the Note column in the following section:

In the definition of the planning level

On tab page Characteristic Relationships, in the Note column of table Charcteristic Relationships Used, those planning levels are displayed in which the respective step can be used.   These specifications form the basis of the selections in the planning levels. However, they only really represent one opportunity. The application of a step is dependent on additional factors:

·        the actual data in the InfoCube

·        the variables and selections in the packages

Example

If, for example, Package is specified in the Note column for a particular planning level but the selection of a character in a lower-level package is restricted to ‘#’ in the level, the step is not used in this planning package.

If it is possible on the basis of the variables and selections in the packages to further restrict the planning level selection so that this affects the possibility of executing the step, appropriate notes are visible in these columns:

Note for using a step

Meaning

Empty

Step can be applied because of selection in planning level. This is not dependent on selections or variables in a planning package.

Variable

Step can be applied if variables have ‘*’. This is dependent on the characteristic values of the variables. There is one exception where this note is not displayed: The characteristic for the planning area is selected in a multi-planning area with a variable.

Var. PG

Step is only applied if a multi-planning area is affected. A variable is used in the generated planning area characteristic for the multi-planning area. This overwrites all other notes. If, however, the other notes are of interest you can display these by replacing the variable with an appropriate normal selection.

Package

The selection is currently not determined in the planning level. A selection is possible that causes the step to be applied.

Package PG

Step is only applied if a multi-planning area is affected. The selection of the generated planning area characteristic is set to “package selection”. This overwrites all other notes.

Var./Package

Whether or not you can apply the step is dependent on both the selections and the characteristic values of variables in a planning package.

Multiple

The source characteristic of the step can be derived in more than one way. The system does not specify in any more detail whether dependencies on variables or selections in a planning package exist.
