Connecting Microsoft Excel 2007 to a BI System
You can use Microsoft Excel 2007 to access InfoCubes and queries as data sources from your BI system and to create a pivot table report from these data with the pivot table field list. You can save the report locally in a spreadsheet.
To perform this analysis, you need to be connected to the BI system. Offline analysis is not possible.
The analysis functions available with Microsoft Excel 2007 include:
● Defining the query in the pivot table field list
● Conditional formatting (top n rules, for example)
● Inserting pivot charts
● Using existing table and cell format templates
● Using hierarchies
With time-dependent hierarchies, the key date is always today's date. This means that you cannot set a date of your choice (using variables, for example).
● Displaying currencies
You can only use the following functions together with BEx Analyzer from the SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence Suite:
● Design mode
● Formula Mode
● Planning
● Using variables
● Currency translation
