Integrating into an SAP NetWeaver 2004 Portal (SAP EP 6.0) 

Use

By integrating SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI with the SAP NetWeaver 2004 portal (SAP EP 6.0 based on SAP Web AS 6.40 Java), you can use the BEx Web functions from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI. A BEx Web application in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI uses the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 portal as its infrastructure and is implicitly called as an iView of an SAP NetWeaver 7.0 portal. Integration means that an iView and the entire BEx Web application from the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 portal are incorporated into SAP EP 6.0.

An SAP NetWeaver 7.0 portal is used as the required technical infrastructure to display BEx Web applications, queries, and reports. BEx Web applications are displayed as iViews. The URL for a BEx Web application points to the host name and port for the Java stack (J2EE). No direct call is made using the URL of the ABAP stack.

The URL of a BEx Web application in SAP BW 3.5 points to the host name and port of the Internet Communication Manager (ICM) in the ABAP stack.

Prerequisites

To be able to integrate SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI with the SAP NetWeaver 2004 portal (SAP EP 6.0 based on SAP Web AS 6.40 Java), the latter must fulfill the following requirements:

       1.      SAP NetWeaver 2004 Support Package Stack 17. (For Support Package Stacks 15 and 16, see SAP Notes 940773 and 941017.)

       2.      A system in SAP EP 6.0 points to the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 portal. For more information, see Creating a System in the SAP NetWeaver 2004 Portal (SAP EP 6.0).

       3.      Single Sign-On (SSO) between SAP EP 6.0 and the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 portal is configured in such a way that the user is not required to explicitly log on when BEx Web applications are called. See Configuring Single Sign-On (SSO) Between SAP EP 6.0 and the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Portal.

Other than the general configuration of BEx Web, there are no additional requirements for the BI system in SAP NetWeaver 7.0.

In the SAP NetWeaver 2004 portal (SAP EP 6.0), you can display BEx Web applications, queries, and reports from SAP NetWeaver 7.0.

Activities

The iViews are created and maintained using wizards in the Portal Content Studio. For more information about creating iViews using the Portal Content Studio, see Integration Using the Portal Content Studio.

       1.      Start the Portal Content iView under Content Administration.

       2.      Select a folder in the Portal Catalog.

       3.      To start the wizard, choose New → iView in the context menu for the folder.

       4.      In the wizard, proceed as follows:

                            a.      Select the SAP BW Report iView template

                            b.      Select SAP NetWeaver BI (7.x) as the version instead of SAP BW 2.x/3.x.

                            c.      Select a system (see Prerequisites above) and enter the BEx Web application query string.

Note that when you select SAP NetWeaver BI as the version, you must use the syntax from SAP NetWeaver 7.0. To call a Web template, you must therefore enter template=<TEMPLATE> and not template_id=<TEMPLATE_ID>. For more information, see: BEx Web Application or Query as iView in the Portal.

Once you have created the iView, you can test it by choosing Preview. You can include it in portal roles by using the Portal Content Studio.
