Use

This chapter provides an overview of the functions provided in the Report Designer menu bar under Format.

Features

Under Format Edit Format, you can make the following settings on the Cell, Font, and Border tab pages.

Menu Option

Description

Alignment

You use this function to make the following settings for texts or elements in a cell in the report:

      Left Align

      Centered

      Right Align

      Align Top

      Vertically Centered

      Align Bottom

Background Color

You use this function to color a cell.

Field Wrapping

If you choose this function, the line break is automatically inserted between fields of a cell if the length required by all fields exceeds the cell length.

Font

You use this function to specify the font.

Font Size

 

You use this function to set the font size for texts.

Bold

 

You use this function to format texts as bold.

Italic

You use this function to format texts as italic.

Font Color

You use this function to color text.

Text Background Color

You use this function to color the text background independently of the background color for the cell.

Word Wrap

If you choose this function, the line break is automatically inserted at a space in a field with multiple words if the field length is not sufficient.

Borders

You use this function to specify a border for each cell.

·         Solid borders

·         Dashed borders

·         Dotted borders

·         No border

·         Border width

·         Border color

To apply your border settings to the selected cell, you need to select the relevant side or sides of the cell to which the settings are to be applied after you make the settings. You do this in the area on the left of the screen.

      The border type is additive, meaning that it is added to the existing border.

Cell Padding

You use this function to specify the gap between the cell contents and the cell boundaries.

The Format menu also contains the following functions:

Align Columns

 

You use this function to align columns from multiple report sections. Alignment is based on the report section that you are currently working on in the design area.

Merge Cells

Unmerge Cells

You use this function to merge cells from a row pattern. To do this, select the relevant cells and choose Merge Cells in the context menu or using the Format menu option. To unmerge the cells, choose Unmerge Cells.

Conditional Formatting

You use this function to set a design other than the one set for the selected characteristic values, hierarchy nodes etc. by the default row patterns.

You use this function to display data providers with hierarchies in various ways. Depending on your choice (formatting hierarchies according to hierarchy levels or according to hierarchy node type), the system generates different row patterns. More information: Formatting Hierarchies
