Background documentation Document Structure for Master Data  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

In Knowledge Management, documents for master data are structured in a hierarchy that is made up of several folders. The documents are assigned to folders according to their properties. Documents are always displayed on the lower levels. The hierarchy tree for the documents contains folders that are only used for structuring purposes and do not contain documents, as well as folders in which documents are displayed:

      Folder for the system alias

Caution If the documents are stored on the BI server, this folder is unnecessary.

Folder for master data (folder without documents)

Folder for specific master data, such as material or cost center (folder without documents)

Folder for specific master data (folder without documents)

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

On the first level of the hierarchy under the BI document repository, the folder for the BI system is displayed as the system alias folder if necessary.

On the second level is the folder for master data and underneath, on the same level, are the folders for specific master data, such as material or cost center. These folders are used for structuring purposes; they do not contain documents. The documents are displayed in the folders below. For example, documents can be displayed for material number 1144 or cost center ABCD. The documents for hierarchies are also displayed on the lower levels.
