Migrating Documents 

Use

You want to migrate documents from the BI server into KM so that you can store and edit these documents in the portal.

Note: KM in the portal does not support language versions. If there is more than one version of a document on the BI server, only one version is migrated. This version is determined as follows: The system uses the logon language of the user executing the migration to search for the most recent version of the document in this particular language. If no document is found, the most recent version of the document is migrated (regardless of the language).

Prerequisites

The prerequisites are described in detail in Migration of Documents into the CM Repository.

Procedure

       1.      In Customizing, choose SAP Customizing Implementation Guide → SAP NetWeaver → Business Intelligence → BI Documents → Migration of Documents to the CM Repository.Or, in the portal, choose Content Provided by SAP → Platform Add-Ons → Business Intelligence → iViews → BEx Document Migration.

       2.         The migration iView user interface appears.

       3.      On the Migrate Documents screen, in the System Alias dropdown box, select the system from which you want to migrate documents.

       4.      In the Source (BI Document Repository) dropdown box, select the repository for BI documents from which you want to migrate documents.

       5.      In the Target (CM Repository) dropdown box, select the CM repository into which you want to migrate documents.

       6.      Under Migrate, set the indicator for the document class that you want to migrate.

We recommend that you do not migrate documents for metadata if the documents are transported automatically with the metadata.

       7.      Under Other Options, set the Overwrite Existing Documents indicator if you want to overwrite documents that already exist in the portal.

       8.      To perform the migration, choose Start Migration.

The system notifies you when the migration process has finished successfully.

Result

You have successfully copied BI documents to the portal and stored them there physically. The BI system is modified automatically in the system landscape. The properties of the BI documents for InfoProviders, master data, and metadata now contain the Target (CM Repository).

You can now edit the migrated documents in the portal and use them in BI Web applications. However, changes are not written back to the BI system and therefore are not visible in the BEx Analyzer.

When you perform migration, the system automatically enters the target CM repository for the relevant document class in table RSPOR_T_PORTAL. This entry permits you to display in the portal documents coming from the Data Warehousing Workbench.
