Use

In addition to Detailed Navigation, the navigation panel includes iViews for Dynamic Navigation and Related Links, which can also contain BI Content.

Features

Detailed navigation automatically appears as needed if the second level of a portal role contains a folder with iView and portal pages and thus contains further levels.

The iViews Dynamic Navigation and Related Links appear in the navigation panel when the displayed portal page or iViews contain the appropriate links to iViews. You can set up the links to iViews on the portal page and at each individual iView. You use the Portal Content Studio for maintenance. The editor for portal pages and iViews contains special views so that you can adopt iViews as Dynamic Navigation or Related Links. You make a selection using the tree for the Portal Catalog and assign the iViews using the context menu. For more information, see Integration Using the Portal Content Studio.

All links for the portal page, along with the included iViews, are combined. With Dynamic Navigation, the individual iViews themselves are displayed in the navigation panel. With Related Links, a list of links is displayed.

Using the Related Links maintenance, as the author you can prepare navigations for users in advance. You can define comparable, relevant iViews, thus allowing further navigation for the user. With Related Links, you can use any number of iViews so that it is very easy to jump to external data sources.

The iViews for Dynamic Navigation are not displayed as links, but as iViews with the contents of these links. For this reason, a portal page should not contain too many iViews as Dynamic Navigation. You can also use a BEx Web Application as an iView for Dynamic Navigation.

Note

Note that the navigation panel is usually very small. Adjust the layout of the BEx Web Application accordingly.

If you are working with BEx Web Applications (format SAP BW 3.x), a BEx Web Application with a Role Menu Web item is especially useful for the navigation panel. The Web item Role Menu enables direct access to the favorites and/or assigned roles in the user’s BI system. In addition to the iViews listed above, the iView Portal Favorites is also displayed in the navigation panel. For more information, see Portal Favorites.
