Function documentation Editing a Planning Folder  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

To make settings that affect a planning folder as a whole, use the functions described here. Editing a Planning Folder: Details shows you how to add planning objects to a planning folder and to edit them.

Integration

To a certain extent, the functions described here use general services from the SAP System, like transport and translation functions.

Features

Generating a Web interface for a planning folder

You can generate a Web interface to serve as an alternative representation of the objects contained in the folder for a planning folder that you declared as Web-enabled when you created it. You then generate an executable Web application in the Web Interface Builder based on the generated Web interface.

To generate a Web application from a planning folder, proceed as follows:

...

       1.      Choose Goto Generate Web Interface.

The Generate Web Interface from Planning Folder screen appears.

       2.      Accept or modify the technical name that the system proposes for the Web interface.

       3.      Accept or modify the package that the system proposes for the Web interface.

Note

The system always proposes the reserved name $TMPas the package. The Web interface to be generated is only available in the current BW system if you keep this setting. If you also want to use the Web interface in other systems, you also have to enter the name of an existing package here. The system then creates a transport request for the interface. You can import this into the target system of your choosing.

       4.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Execute to generate the Web interface.

See also the Note on Export. You can display this by pressing the Note on Export pushbutton.

Displaying a legend

To provide an overview of symbols used in the functions for editing planning folders, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Display Legend.

Standard planning folder

You can select a planning folder from the list of folders offered and choose Planning Folder Set as Standard to set it as your personal standard planning folder. This folder is then subsequently preselected in the list of available planning folders. This folder can also be automatically executed using a special transaction. You can cancel this by choosing Edit Reset Standard Folder.

Copying a planning folder

You can copy a planning folder using This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Copy Planning Function. All objects contained in the folder to be copied are then added to the new planning folder. You can also use these functions to indirectly change one of the basic settings of a folder which cannot normally be changed. By copying one of the folders you can, for example, derive a non Web-enabled folder from a Web-enabled folder, and vice-versa.

Deleting a planning folder

If you no longer need a planning folder you can delete it using This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Delete. This does not delete the planning objects placed in the folder. At first, the system sees the deletion only as a deletion flag. The folder remains visible in the list and is flagged with a deletion icon This graphic is explained in the accompanying text. Only when you leave the folder overview does the system ask whether you actually want to delete the indicated folder.

Searching for a planning folder

If you have created lots of planning folders, it can be difficult to find a specific folder. It therefore makes sense to use the search function This graphic is explained in the accompanying text. The system searches for the text that you enter as a search term both in the technical name and in the description of the planning folder, and marks the first folder where if finds a match.

Structuring planning folders

You can group together planning folders with related content in the list of planning folders for a folder. First create the folder. Follow the same procedure as when creating a new planning folder and choose Folder (Not Executable) for Attributes when Executing. You can then assign existing planning folders to the folder using drag and drop and create new planning folders in it.

Planning folder with variant

You can create variants for a planning folder. You thus have the option of defining the execution of certain planning folders as independent menu options in the SAP Workplace. To assign a variant to a planning folder, choose Goto Create variant.

Translating a planning folder

If you want to use a planning folder in various regional organizations in your company, the interface texts contained in the folder need to be translated into the relevant languages. Select the required folder and choose Extras Translate Folder. The Translation of Planning Folders screen appears. The system presets the required folder. Once you have entered the desired target language, the SAP System translation function appears, where you can translate the texts.

On the Translation of Planning Folders screen, you can also choose All Folders of the Planning Application or select a set of planning folders by selecting Planning Folder with This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Multiple Selection.

Transporting a planning folder

To be able to use a planning folder in other systems or clients, you need to transport it there first. To do this, choose Extras Transport Folder. The Transport Planning Folders screen appears. You can choose between two options here:

All Folders of Planning Application: All planning folders are transported.

Planning Folder: You can select one or more folders to transport.

Note

If you choose Planning Folder, the Also Folder Hierarchy flag is relevant. This flag is set by default. If this flag is not set, only the selected folder and its various attributes (table keys and the like) will be transported. Otherwise, all planning folders are transported.

Caution

If only makes sense to set this flag if the same folders exist in both the source and target systems. This is because the folder hierarchy in the target system is matched to the hierarchy in the source system. Folders that exist only in the target system are therefore no longer visible in the navigation tree after the transport.

Once you have entered or created a Customizing transport request, the system adds all required objects to the request.
