 Restriction Group

Definition

Grouping of restrictions according to business criteria.

Use

Using restriction groups, you can group restrictions in a certain period or according to specific business criteria. You create a restriction group with reference to a planning version and a production line or a group of alternative lines.

You can also assign authorizations to the restriction groups. This is particularly useful if you want to make sure that only certain users have authorization to maintain certain restriction groups. See also: Authorizations for Maintaining Restriction Groups

Structure

  • The restriction group has a certain periodic validity and is assigned to one production line and one planning version only. You can define the start date and the end date of the validity period. A restriction group can contain as many restrictions as you want.

  • You can assign a restriction to several restriction groups. However, the restriction groups must be assigned to the same line and the same planning version.

The following diagram shows the assignment of restrictions to restriction groups, lines and planning version:

Integration

The system checks the validity of the restriction group in the planning run. If the restriction group is no longer valid, the restrictions assigned to this group are not used in the planning run – even if the restrictions themselves are valid at the time of planning.
