Providing Archive Infostructures for Data Access
In the deletion phase of data archiving, the system automatically fills the relevant archive infostructures while deleting archived data from the database. You use the table entries in archive infostructures for indexing the data stored in the file system or in the ILM store, this makes them mandatory for access to data.
Correctly filled archive infostructures are prerequisites for:
E-Discovery
(for defining holds on data)
Using the Data Relationship Browser
Access to the archived data of bequeathing ILM objects
If necessary, you can create, activate and fill archive infostructures for archiving objects manually.
If you use SAP NetWeaver ILM
in a live application system, you need to activate the archive infostructure for the ILM application scenario Retention Management (RM)
.
The system offers the activation of the archive infostructure for both ILM application scenarios for the following reason: An SAP system is recognized as a Retention Warehouse
system when the legacy data has been transferred. If no legacy data has been transferred, the system requests that the ILM application scenario be specified when the archive infostructure is being activated.
It is necessary to divide the archive infostructures according to ILM application scenarios because the archive infostructures for a Retention Warehouse
(stand-alone ILM system) also contain the additional fields SAP Original System ID
and Client of Original System
. On the other hand, the archive infostructure for Retention Management
corresponds to the normal archive infostructures.
You can change the assignment of an archive infostructure to an ILM application scenario as needed. To do so, deactivate the archive infostructure and then activate it with the assignment to another ILM application scenario.
Call transaction SARI
(central administration of archive infostructures) in the SAP system.
Provide the archive infostructure for the required archiving object as follows:
Create the archive infostructure in the Archive Retrieval Configurator
(Customizing
pushbutton).
Activate the archive infostructure for the ILM application scenario Retention Management (RM)
.
Fill the index table in status administration for archive infostructures (Status
pushbutton).
For more information, see: Archive Retrieval Configurator
(in the SAP Library)
If an archive infostructure has already (mistakenly) been activated and filled for the ILM application scenario Retention Warehouse
but is needed for Retention Management
scenario, you can change the assignment as follows:
Deactivate the archive infostructure in the Archive Retrieval Configurator
. To do so, select the archive infostructure under Customizing
, then choose .
Activate the archive infostructure for the ILM application scenario Retention Management (RM)
.
As a result of the change, the current index table for the archive infostructure remains available for read access. The system creates a new index table for Retention Management
. The new table does not contain the fields Original System ID
and Client of Original System
.
