 Restrictions on Fields in the Product Master

Use

As well as creating restrictions for combinations of characteristic values, you can also define restrictions for product numbers and for other fields in the product master. This means, for example, that not only can you define the restriction for the characteristic Air conditioning , you can also define the restriction for the product number of the air conditioning system. This may make sense if you can assemble several product variants as air conditioning systems but you only want to create the restriction for one particular product variant.

Prerequisites

  • In the DI System, you must have created a characteristic and transferred it to the APO System using the APO Core Interface.

  • You have entered the characteristic transferred from the DI System in Customizing for Model Mix Planning in the IMG activity Define Restrictions for Fields in the Product Master in the Characteristic field and you have entered the product master field in question in the Field Name field.You can display the field names of the fields in the product master in Table /SAPAPO/MATKEY.

Features

In the restriction maintenance screen, you can define a restriction for the product number by entering the characteristic defined for the product number and the product number in the characteristic valuation in the dependency editor. The system treats this restriction in exactly the same way as a restriction on a "normal" characteristic. Moreover, you can enter any field of the product master you want.

Activities

The procedure is shown using the example of the product number:

  1. Create a characteristic in the DI System in the characteristic maintenance screen and transfer it to APO.

  2. Enter the name of the characteristic in the IMG activity in the Characteristic field and enter MATNR in the Field name column. (MATNR is the field name of the product number).

  3. When defining the restriction, enter the characteristic name in the characteristic valuation in the dependency editor and enter the appropriate product number as the characteristic value.
