Spacing Restriction You use spacing restrictions to limit the occurrence of a characteristic to a minimum spacing in the planned sequence of orders.
Only one employee is available in production during the night shift for the assembly of air conditioners. He requires three takts to assemble one air conditioner. Therefore, you define a spacing restriction in which you define that, at most, every fourth vehicle may have air conditioning during the night shift. The object dependency is as follows:
Air conditioning = “Yes”
Moreover, you must define the following period of validity and weighting in the start date view:

The period of validity for the restriction starts on the 1 st June 2001, in the third shift (night shift) and is initially valid to infinity as no other period of validity has been maintained.
As more employees are available in the other two shifts, enter the third shift as reference shift so that this restriction is only valid for the night shift.
The minimum spacing allowed for air conditioners is three. This means that, at most, every fourth vehicle may be equipped with an air conditioner.
The restriction is not hard as it may be overruled in individual cases. However, you set the weighting very high at 1.
