Compare and Adjust with the Template/Source

Use

This function compares the structure and the objects assigned to your Solution Manager project, with its source, e.g. a template or the Business Process Repository (BPR). If the source has changed, you can copy the changes and improve the process structure and the assigned objects.

Integration

You can copy structures and the objects assigned to them, e.g. documentation and IMG objects from a template or the Business Process Repository, into your project. For further information about the copy function, see Resolve Differences between Source and Target.

After you have copied elements from the source into your project, the source can change, e.g. because the template has been adjusted to a new program version, errors have been corrected in the template, or a new version of the BPR scenario has been delivered.

Compare the version of the copied elements in your project with the source which you have copied, in a background job, with the function Compare and Adjust. The system automatically uses the newest version of the source for the comparison. You can choose another version as the source of the comparison when you define your project system landscape in the Project Administration (transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN).

You can copy the changes which this background job has identified, into your project, in the Business Blueprint (SOLAR01) and in the Configuration (SOLAR02).

Prerequisites

You have copied structures into your project from one of the following sources:

●      the repository for business processes and scenarios delivered by SAP (Business Process Repository (BPR))

●      a template

●      another project structure from the possible entries help in the Structure tab in the Business Blueprint (SOLAR01)

●      an entire project, using the copy function in the Project Administration

Features

●      Compare structures which were copied up to and including Solution Manager Version 2.20.

●      Compare and Adjust all objects in the following tabs:

○       General Documentation

○       Structure

○       Transactions

○       Configuration

○       Development

○       Test Cases

●      Compare and adjust changes to URLs in the Transactions tab. The system does not flag changes to other objects in the Transactions tab, e.g. changes to BC Sets and documents, and updates of CATTs/eCATTS.

●      Copy new or changed elements from the source into your project

●      Copy deletions in the source into your project

Procedures

...

       1.      Choose Goto ® Compare and Adjust (transaction SA_PROJECT_UPGRADE) in the initial screen of the Project Administration, to compare your project with the source.

       2.      The Compare and Adjust function:

○       compares your project structure and its elements with their source, e.g. templates, the BPR or other projects.

○       flags the structure elements of the target which have changed since you copied them into your project, with a red icon, in your project structure and the tabs in the transactions SOLAR01 and SOLAR02.

○       flags the structure elements which have not changed, with a green icon, in the transactions SOLAR01 and SOLAR02.

To hide the change icons in the transactions SOLAR01 und SOLAR02, reset the Adjustment Mode flag in your user settings.

       3.      The system creates a log, which you can display in the transaction SM37. The log shows errors which occurred in the comparison, and the number of differences found in your project.

       4.      The Adjust to the Original pushbutton in the transactions SOLAR01 and SOLAR02:

○       displays the differences between source and target

○       selects new or changed elements in the source, and copies them into your project

○       selects deletions in the source, and copies them into your project

●        The Finished pushbutton changes an icon from red to green. The structure node is only also set to green if all tabs have been set to green.

●        If the structure node has not yet been set to green, the left-hand side of the Compare and Adjustment dialog box screen can show differences for tabs which have already been set to green. If you perform the function Compare and Adjust at this stage, the tab gets a red icon again.

●        The Compare and Adjust pushbutton is active as soon as a structure node has been copied from another structure node in the same Solution Manager system.

For comparisons with templates, you must first perform the function Compare and Adjust, and then choose the Adjust to Original pushbutton in a tab.
