Deploying and Updating an Application 

Use

Since the Deploy, Deploy&Start and Update dialog windows have the same functionality, you can use this procedure to:

·        Deploy an application,

·        Deploy and start an application or

·        Update a whole application.

If you want to update only a part of an application use Updating a Single File.

The Deploy, Deploy&Start and the Update windows will be collectively called the Deploy dialog window.

Procedure

...

       1.      Choose Deploy, Deploy&Start or Update. The Deploy dialog window appears.

§         If you choose Deploy&Start, the deployed application will be started automatically.

§         If you choose Deploy, the application will only be deployed. It will be placed in stopped mode.

§         If you choose Update, the application will be started after the update finishes, only if it was started when the update began.

       2.      In the File field, specify the application EAR file. You can also browse to it in the file system.

       3.      Specify a new Work dir, if you want to change the default one. This is the folder in which the application file will be extracted.

All files in the folder that you specify as a Work dir will be deleted! Back up the content of the folder in advance.

       4.      If some additional class files are necessary for loading and deploying or updating the application, modify the list of Additional Class Path. For more information about the fields, see Setting a Project Classpath in the Development Manual.

       5.      For Remote Support of the application, specify a transport protocol.

If you do not choose a transport protocol, P4 is set by default.

       6.      Choose OK.

       7.      The Deploy Dialog appears. Enter data as required. For more information about the fields of the dialog, in the Development Manual see:

       8.      To start the deployment/update process, choose OK.

An application is assumed to be deployed/ updated in the cluster if it is successfully deployed/ updated on one server in the cluster. The Deploy Service is responsible for its deployment/update on the other cluster elements. If the deploy/update is not successful, the cluster is not homogeneous. With each restart of the server elements, the Deploy Service tries to synchronize the applications, their versions and their status in the cluster, until it is successful.
