Monitoring SAP R/3 3.x SystemsThe
monitoring
architecture and the
Alert Monitor from
CCMS have been available since SAP R/3 4.0B. You can therefore remotely
monitor every other SAP system as of SAP R/3 4.0B or above from a central
system.
You can also monitor SAP systems with SAP R/3 3.0 (from 3.0D) or 3.1 from the monitoring architecture of SAP R/3 4.x. When monitoring SAP R/3 3.x systems, not all of the information provided in SAP R/3 4.x is available; however, the system can display the critical service level data, such as availability and dialog response time.
You do not need to make any changes to your SAP R/3 3-x systems to be able to use this solution.

1.
Download the
SAPCM3X CCMS agent from the SAP Service
Marketplace (see also
Downloading the CCMS
Agents).
2.
Log on to
the operating system on the host computer, on which the application server of
the SAP R/3 3.x system that you want to monitor is running. Start and register
the CCMS agent in accordance with the instructions in
Installing and
Registering CCMS Agents. During registration, specify the central
monitoring system to which the CCMS agent is to report its data. The
monitoring data of the SAP R/3 3.x system is displayed in the Alert Monitor of the corresponding
SAP R/3 4.x system.
Monitoring
data from the SAP R/3 3.x systems is now available in the monitoring
architecture (Alert Monitor) of the SAP R/3 4.x system. You can display the
SAP R/3 3.x data by creating a monitor and choosing the monitoring context
created by the CCMS agents (see also
Creating Monitors for
the CCMS Agents in the Central Monitoring System).
