Use

Translations are used to convert specific values or information of the non-SAP system in the SAP system.

The LSM Workbench distinguishes between 1:1 translation and interval translation. In 1:1 translation, you define which "old value" is replaced by which "new value". In an interval translation, it is assumed that specific information is stored in a numeric format.

Procedure

...

       1.      From the list of steps, choose Maintain fixed values, translations, and user-defined routines.

       2.      Position the cursor on the corresponding translation.

       3.      Choose Change.
A dialog box with four tab pages is displayed.

Function

Source field/target field

You can adjust the attributes of the source and target field.

Control data

You can select in which of the two translation tables the system is to search for a value first, and which rule is to be used alternatively.

1:1 translation values

You either enter the corresponding values for "Old value" or upload them from a PC file (text separated by tabs).

You either enter the corresponding values for "New value" or copy them from the F4 help.

Interval translation values

You either enter the corresponding values for "Old value" or upload them from a PC file (text separated by tabs).

You either enter the corresponding values for "New value" or copy them from the F4 help.

Caution

During translation, only those values are transferred for which the OK indicator is set!

Result

The data is being translated.

Example

The country key can be assigned after a 1:1 translation. This replaces the old country key with a new one.

If specific information, such as the material type, is stored in number ranges, an interval translation will be more useful since you can define that the new value applies to number xxxx (From old value) through number yyyy (To old value), which is material type xyz in this case.
