Reusable Rules
This generic term includes fixed values, translation rules, and user-defined routines. Thus, reusable rules are a part of the field assignments for data migration with the LSMW. They always apply to all the objects of a project.
Reusable rules allow you to define conversion rules that can be used several times.
When you assign a reusable rule to a target field, the LSM Workbench will propose you one, two, or three names: The name of the target field, the name of the data element, and the name of the domain. When two or all names are identical, an accordingly lower number of names will be proposed.

In the SAP system, data objects are defined on three levels:
Domain: At the lowest level, technical properties are defined, such as the field type, field length, value table or fixed values.
Data element: At the second level, semantic properties are defined, based on a domain and its properties. These semantic properties include language-specific texts and documentation.
Field: At the highest level, properties of the field in the context of a structure or table are defined, based on a data element. These properties include foreign key relationships and search helps.
In particular, this means that multiple data elements usually exist for a domain, all of which relate to this domain. In turn, multiple fields usually exist for a data element, all of which relate to this data element.
A name must usually be proposed. There is an exception if the domain is very general, such as "CHAR1" (approximately 5200 data elements) or "XFELD" (approximately 13500 data elements). Using the name of the domain in this case might cause the reusable rule to be useless for a different field with the same domain since this field possibly has a completely different meaning.
By means of this method, the number of conversion rules is kept low and consistency in data conversion is maintained.
