You can use the DB2 Control Center (DB2CC) tools to administer the DB2 database manager running on UNIX and Windows platforms. The SAP system does not need to be running.

DB2CC contains several tools, including the following:

• Control Center – provides functionality to administer you database
• Information Center – provides online documentation
• Command Center – provides the ability to run commands and SQL statements
• Script Center – provides the ability to run scripts containing commands and SQL statements

SAP has added functionality to the Control Center that specifically enables you to manage DB2 Universal Databases (DB2 UDB for UNIX and Windows) for the SAP system.

DB2CC is written in Java. On UNIX platforms you need to have Java installed as a prerequisite. On Windows platforms DB2 UDB for UNIX and Windows comes with Java.
