This function makes a more exact forecast possible. It first compares forecast key figures of a planning book period by period according to certain criteria and then transfers the determined key figure values to one single forecast key figure. Demand combination can compare forecast key figures based on different time horizons and forecast levels and originating from different demand planning applications (referred to below as “data sources”). For each period of a specified time frame, demand combination transfers the determined key figure value from the respective data source to the target key figure. Since the target key figure can consist of a combination of key figure values from different data sources, it will be referred to below as a “combined key figure”.
Demand combination compares the key figures for a specific characteristic values combination within the scope of a short-term planning horizon. You can then release the combined key figure to Supply Network Planning (SNP).
If you want to analyze forecast data from Demand Planning (DP) and Responsive Replenishment (RR) using demand combination, you can consolidate the data from these applications in the Business Information Warehouse (BW).
· You have created a planning book with a data view and several key figures. The key figures can come from different data sources.
· The quantity specifications from the various data sources must be in the same unit of measure.
· In the Macro Workbench, you have imported the macro DEMAND COMBINATION from the planning book 9ADC_BASIC to your planning book.
· You have specified the demand combination horizon for the demand combination run in Customizing for Demand Planning (DP) under Basic Settings ® Demand Combination ® Make General Settings.
Demand combination consists of the following:
In the master data maintenance, you specify the criteria that you want the system to use to compare the key figures from the different sources. To do this, you define a decision tree and assign it to the characteristic values combination of a characteristics group.
· Demand combination run
You can execute the subsequent demand combination run directly in interactive demand planning or in the background. To do so, execute the macro DEMAND COMBINATION. You can see the result of the run in the planning book.
If you have already executed a demand combination run and want to start a new run, first reorganize the demand combination results table. This way you can achieve better performance for the demand combination run. To do so, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Advanced Planning and Optimization ® Master Data ® Application-Specific Master Data ® Demand Planning ® Demand Combination ® Reorganize Results Table. Then delete the entries for the characteristics group that you want to use in the next demand combination run.
