Background documentation Activity WEIGHT_ FACTOR Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

The system uses this activity to add the values of the baseline forecast key figures and baseline promotion key figures period by period for each data source. In addition, the system compares the WAPE key figures of the corresponding data sources period by period.

The system multiplies the total of the data source with the lowest WAPE value by the first weighting factor that you have specified for WEIGHT_FACTOR. It then multiplies the total of the data source with the second lowest WAPE value by the second weighting factor from WEIGHT_FACTOR, accordingly. The system continues this process for all the remaining WAPE values. At the end, the system adds the multiplied values and transfers the result for each period to the combined key figure.

If the WAPE values are the same for different periods, the system considers the data source whose key figure is first in the alphanumerical sequence.

The following parameters are available for the activity WEIGHT_FACTOR:

Parameter

Meaning

DS_BASELINE

Baseline forecast key figures and their data sources

DS_EVENT

Promotion key figures and their data sources

DS_WAPE

WAPE key figure and its data source

WEIGHT_FACTOR

Weighting factor, sorted according to the weighting from the lowest to the highest factor

PERIOD_SELECT

Start and end periods of the time frame for which you execute the activity

Activity class: /SAPAPO/CL_DC_WEIGHT_FACTOR.

Example

In the following example, the system considers one baseline forecast key figure, one promotion key figure, and one WAPE key figure from data source 01 and from data source 02. See the following table for the parameter values:

In the following figure, the time frame defined for the activity begins in calendar week 38 (CW 38) and ends in CW 42.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

In CW 38, the system does not determine a WAPE value and therefore does not transfer a value to the combined key figure. In CW 39, the system determines the data source 02 with the lowest WAPE value and multiplies the total of this data source by the lowest weighting factor. Then the system multiplies the total from data source 01 by the next highest weighting factor. It then adds the two multiplied values and transfers the total to the combined key figure.

The system continues this process period by period to determine the rest of the values for the combined key figure.
