The system uses this activity to add the key figures of two data sources period by period and checks for each period whether the relative discrepancy between the totals exceeds a predefined factor.

The following parameters are available for the activity LARGE_DISCREPANCIES:

The system proceeds as follows when executing this activity:

...

       1.      The system determines the total of the baseline forecast values and promotion values for each data source and each period of the specified time frame.

       2.      It then calculates the relative discrepancy between the two totals for each period as follows:

(total_01 – total 02) / (total_01 + total_02)

       3.      The system then compares the relative discrepancy with the threshold value factor (the relative discrepancy is independent of the +/- sign). Depending on the result, the system proceeds as follows:

                            a.      If the discrepancy is smaller than the threshold value factor, the system transfers the total of the data source that has the lowest WAPE value to the combined key figure to this period. If the system cannot determine the lowest WAPE value for this period, it adds together the key figure values of the data source that you defined in DS_PRIORITY_WAPE. This is, for example, the case for the current period, since there is by definition no WAPE value for this period.

                            b.      If the relative discrepancy is greater than the threshold value factor, the system flags this period for further processing and then checks the next period. The system flags one period after the other until it has found one of the following results:

§         The relative discrepancy is again below the threshold value factor.

§         The end of the time frame defined for the activity has been reached.

§         The system reaches a period in the combined key figure that already contains a value.

Then the system adds up the percentage discrepancies of the flagged, chronological periods. If the discrepancy value is higher than the threshold value factor, the system transfers the values for these periods from the combined key figure that it determined during the last demand combination run for this characteristic values combination.

If the discrepancy value is lower than the threshold value factor, the system transfers the totals of the data source that has the lowest WAPE value in the first period of the flagged periods (or the data source defined with DS_PRIORITY_WAPE) to the combined key figure.

Example

In the following example, the system considers one baseline forecast key figure, one promotion key figure, and one WAPE key figure from data source 01 and from data source 02. See the following table for the parameter values:

In the figure, two fields (CW 43 and CW 44) contain an asterisk (*). This symbol represents values that the system determined during the last demand combination run and transfers from the combined key figure.
