Background documentation Activity PROMOTION_CUM_DELTA Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

With this activity the system follows specific criteria to check which data source contains the first valid promotion value. The total of the baseline forecast values and promotion values of the corresponding data sources forms the basis of this check. You can use this activity if you have promotion values that were not planned period-specifically.

The following parameters are available for the activity PROMOTION_CUM_DELTA:

Parameter

Meaning

DS_BASELINE

Basis forecast key figures from a maximum of two different data sources

DS_EVENT

Promotion key figures from a maximum of two different data sources

THRESHOLD_1

Threshold value factor for the comparison of relative discrepancies

THRESHOLD_2

Threshold value factor for the cumulative comparison of relative discrepancies

PERIOD_SELECT

Start and end periods of the time frame for which you execute the activity

Activity class: /SAPAP/CL_DC_PROMO_CUM_DEL

The system performs the calculation as follows:

...

       1.      The system first adds the baseline forecast values and promotion values of both data sources (such as RR and DP) period by period. The result that the system gets for each period is the RR total (total of values of data source RR) and the DP total (total of values of data source DP).

       2.      The system checks for the first period whether the DP total is equal to 0.

¡        If the DP total is 0, the system checks if the RR total is also 0. If so, the system sets the Within the Tolerance Area indicator (Within indicator) for this period and checks the next period. If the RR total is greater than or lesser than 0, the system sets the Outside of the Tolerance Area indicator (Outside indicator) for this period and executes step 2 in the next period.

¡        If the DP total is greater than or lesser than 0, the system does the following calculation:

ABS(DP total – RR total) / DP total * 100 > 100 + THRESHOLD_1

If the result is true, the system sets the Outside indicator for this period and executes step 3 for the next period.

If the result is not true, the system sets the Within indicator for this period and executes step 2 for the next period.

       3.      The system adds all the chronological periods that immediately precede the current period and for which the Outside indicator is set. Then the system does the following calculation:

SUM (ABS (DP total – RR total) / SUM (DP total) * 100 > 100 + THRESHOLD_2

If the result is true, the system sets the Outside indicator for the current period and executes step 3 for the next period.

If the result is not true, the system sets the Within indicator for the current period and executes step 2 for the next period.

       4.      The system carries out these calculations until it has set the Outside and Within indicators for all periods.

       5.      Then the system groups all the chronological periods and for which the Outside indicator is set. The system extends each grouping by the next period for which the Within indicator is set.

       6.      The system checks whether the Within indicator is set for the last period of each grouping.

¡        If so, the system transfers the totals of the data source that has the first promotion value within the grouping to the combined key figure. In the combined key figure, the system fills the periods that correspond to the periods of the grouping. If the first promotion value occurs in both data sources at the same time or there is no data source that has a promotion value for this time frame, the system selects the data source that has the higher value in the first period.

¡        If this is not the case, the system transfers the totals of the data source that has the highest total within the grouping to the combined key figure. In the combined key figure, the system fills the periods that correspond to the periods of the grouping. If the following conditions are fulfilled, the system also triggers and alert:

§         The data source with the highest total does not have a promotion value within the grouping.

§         The data source with the lowest total has promotion values within the grouping.

The system leaves all the periods in the combined key figure empty for which the Within indicator is set.
