This function enables you to use data from Time Series Data Management (TSDM) in planning areas of Demand Planning (DP).
You have configured and activated Time Series Data Management. For more information, see Time Series Data Management.
You can work with time series data in the planning area at the following planning levels:
● at location product level if the master planning object structure contains the characteristics product and location
● at detail level with any characteristics in the master planning object structures
In this case, planning must take place at the most detailed level. This function is not available for working with planning areas of Supply Network Planning (SNP) or with data from Service Parts Planning (SPP).
Note the following general constraints when working with TSDM in Demand Planning:
● You cannot use any time series data in characteristics-based forecasting.
● Realignment is not possible for planning areas that use TSDM.
You can carry out planning with TSDM key figures at location product level or at detail level if you are at the correct planning level. If not, the corresponding key figures are not ready for input in interactive planning. In mass processing, you must select the correct planning level as the aggregation level.
You can use the following reports when working with time series data:
You can use this report to check if all the master data exists for the location products of a planning object structure.
You can use this report to generate a list of location products that are used in a time series data type for a specific time period. You can extend this list in a word-processing or spreadsheet program with free characteristics and their values. Then you can upload these characteristic values combinations to a planning object structure. From the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Advanced Planning and Optimization ® Master Data ®Application-Specific Master Data ® Demand Planning ® Maintain Characteristic Values. For more information, see Creation of Characteristic Value Combinations.
You can save the list the report generates with XLS or TXT format. To upload the list at a later time, however, you need format TXT.
General Settings for TSDM
You make the settings for TSDM in planning area maintenance on the Info tab page. Here you specify whether you want to plan with time series data at location product level or at detail level. In both cases you must specify a times series type for which you have defined a corresponding time series data type in Customizing for TSDM:
● TSDM at location product level
Select a mode A time series data type. If you work with locations for which you have set the virtual child location (VCL) or third-party order processing (TPOP) indicator in the location product master, use type C.
● TSDM at detail level
Select a time series data type with mode B.
Use Change History
You can also specify that the system records when data in TSDM is changed in a change history. For this, the following prerequisites must be fulfilled:
● You have set the TSDM Change History indicator in planning area maintenance on the Info tab page.
● You have set the Change History indicator in Customizing for Time Series Data Management under Configure Time Series Data Management.
You must also make sure that you have set the No Change History indicator for key figures for which the system is not to record changes.
Define TSDM Key Figures
For key figures that use TSDM, select the setting 999 (TSDM: Quantity) on the Key Figs tab page under Details in the Semantic field. Since time series data cannot be aggregated or disaggregated, these key figures automatically receive the corresponding settings for Calculatn Type and Time-Based Disaggreg. on the Key Figure Aggregtn tab page.
If you plan with time series data at location product level and want to see TPOP or VCL data, create alternative key figures for this data. To do so, select Goto ® Key Figure Mapping TSDM in planning area maintenance.
If you work with TSDM at location product level, the characteristics Location and Product must be available. If you work with TSDM at detail level, you must plan with all the characteristics that you have defined for the planning object structure.
If you use a TSDM key figure, the planning buckets profile can only be valid for one periodicity. This periodicity must be the same as the one you have defined in the time profile of the time series data type.
