Function documentation Product Split Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

This function allows you to replace a product with one or more products when it is released. This means that you can plan one product or product group in Demand Planning and use another product or products for further processing in SNP and PP/DS.

There are several possible uses for this function, for example:

·        The use of a product split allows you to separate out different kinds of demand; for example, unpromoted demand and promoted demand.

·        You can create a demand plan on an aggregate level, for instance for a product group, and then break it down using fixed proportion when you release the plan.

·        You can use it in a supersession scenario. You plan an old product, but when you release it, the system replaces the old product with the new one. For more details, see Product Interchangeability in Demand Planning.

You can use a product split in the following situations:

·        Release of the demand plan from Demand Planning to Supply Network Planning

·        Transfer of the demand plan from Demand Planning to R/3 Demand Management

Prerequisites

You have created product master records for all of the products that you want to use.

Activities

You access the product split by choosing Demand Planning ® Environment ® Product Split from the SAP Easy Access menu. The transaction consists of a table in which you enter:

·        The location for which the product split is valid. If you do not make an entry here, the split is valid for all locations.

Note

This is one way of planning globally, but actually producing different products in different locations.

·        The source product, that is the product that is planned in DP.

·        The planning version in SNP – PP/DS to which the data is to be released.

·        The validity period comprising of:

¡        The start date

¡        The periodicity (days, weeks, months, etc.)

¡        The number of periods

¡        If applicable, a financial year variant

·        The target product, that is the product to be processed in SNP or PP/DS.

Note

You need one line for each target product

·        The proportion. If there is only one entry for a source product, this will generally be 1, otherwise between 0 and 1. Values larger than 1 are not permitted.

For more details on these fields, refer to the corresponding F1 help.

Example

The following example shows how the demand plan of product A is split into 80% for product A-pro (promoted demand) and 20% for product A-unpro (unpromoted demand). Product master records exist for A, A-pro, and A-unpro. Product A exists in the DP master data. The time range for the release is the twelve months starting 1st January 2000.
