Use

Promotion management consists of several functions that an administrator can use in the promotion environment. These functions apply more to the administration of promotions than to the contents of individual promotions. They allow you to make quick changes to several promotions at once.

Prerequisites

You have created promotions.

Features

Activate or deactivate promotions

You can use this function to activate or deactivate promotions in a planning area. You enter the planning area, version, and promotion key figure. You can further restrict the selections with other criteria.

A list of the selected promotions appears. You can delete promotions from the list. When you choose Execute, the system activates or deactivates the promotions in the list. There are three options:

·        Activate

·        Deactivate

·        Deactivate All Promotions and Reset Promotion Key Figure

In this option, not only are the promotions deactivated but the promotion key figure in the planning book is also set to zero.

Ensure consistency of promotions data

In some circumstances the promotion key figure may be initial although there are active promotions. The report program has two versions, depending on the promotion type

Absolute Promotions

The system copies the data from the active promotion to the promotion key figure.

Note

Since this function does not check whether the data is already in the key figure, you should only use it when the key figure is completely empty, that is the value in all time buckets is 0.

If there are values in the key figure that you believe to be inconsistent, use the Deactivate All Promotions and Reset Promotion Key Figure option (see above), and then activate all the promotions that use the key figure.

Percentage Promotions

The promotion quantity should be a fixed percentage of the baseline key figure. To assure this consistency, the system

...

       1.      Reads the promotion value from the database

       2.      Deletes the promotion value

       3.      Reads the baseline key figure

       4.      Recalculates the promotion value

       5.      Writes the new value to both the database and the promotion key figure

You can select promotions as above.

Copy promotions without entering promotion planning

You can use this function to copy one or more promotions.

On the selection screen, you must specify a planning area, version and a promotion key figure. You can further restrict the selection, for example by  entering individual promotions or a promotion base. When you choose Execute, a screen appears that  lists the selected promotions. You can remove promotions from the list. In this list, you can enter a name and description for the new promotion. If you make no entry for the promotion name, the system automatically creates one.

Choose Execute again to start the function.

Change the characteristic values that have been assigned to a promotion without entering promotion planning

With this function, you can change the characteristic values to which a promotion is assigned.

On the selection screen, you must specify a planning area and version. You can further restrict the selection, for example by entering individual promotions or a promotion base. Choose Define Changes  to specify the characteristic values to be changed.

Note

Note that the system does not check at this stage whether a characteristic value has been assigned to the selected promotion. (It does this when you execute the program.) Furthermore it will only change the characteristic values to characteristic combination that exist in the master planning object structure. This can mean that after executing the program less characteristic value combinations are assigned to the promotion than before. However if there are no characteristic value combinations with the target value, the system issues a message to this effect.

When you choose Execute, a screen appears that  lists the selected promotions. You can remove promotions from the list. Choose Execute again to start the function.

The system resets active promotions to the Draft status.

Note

The system does not change the characteristic values of promotions that have a cannibalization group assigned.

Delete promotions without entering promotion planning

With this function, you can delete several promotions at the same time.

You enter the planning area, version, and promotion key figure. You can further restrict the selections with other criteria.

Display overlapping promotions

You can use this function to determine which promotions overlap, that is, run together on at least one day.

On the selection screen, you must make entries in the Planning Selection screen section, these are Planning area, Version and Promotion key figure. You can further restrict the selection, for example by entering individual promotions or a promotion base. When you choose Execute, the system displays a table of the overlaps.

Activities

You access these functions from the SAP Easy Access menu by choosing Demand Planning  ® Planning ® Promotion ® Promotion Management.
